According to the results of the competition for the best fundamental research projects carried out by graduate students, 8 NEFU projects out of 9 became winners:

• Project “Multiscale mathematical modeling of flow and transport problems in heterogeneous areas”

Research supervisor: Vasilieva Maria Vasilievna

Graduate student: Alekseev Valentin Nikolaevich

• Project “Multiscale mathematical modeling of unsaturated filtration problems in fractured and inhomogeneous media”

Research supervisor: Vasilieva Maria Vasilievna

Graduate student: Spiridonov Denis Alekseevich

• Project “Computational algorithms and software for the numerical calculation of multidimensional direct and inverse problems of adsorption in porous media”

Research supervisor: Vabishchevich Petr Nikolaevich

Graduate student: Grigoryev Vasily Vasilievich

The Grant competition is oriented at young scientists- graduate students and provides conditions for successful obtaining of the Candidate of Sciences degree. It also facilitates job search and assists in training scientists for Russian research institutions.

Total amount of the grant: 1,200,000 rubles.

Grant of RSF

Aleksandr Vasiliev, a researcher at the International Research Laboratory “Multiscale Mathematical Modeling and Computing”, Institute of Mathematics and Information Science became a winner of the Russian Science Foundation grant. This competition was held in the framework of the “Initiative research by young scientists” event of the presidential program of research projects. Aleksandr Vasiliev presented a project “Development of computational algorithms and software for problems of neutron transfer in a nuclear reactor based on new mathematical models of SP3 approximation”. The project was highly assessed by experts. The research is aimed at development of computational algorithms for stationary and non-stationary boundary value problems of neutron transfer in SP3 approximation by the finite element method taking into account a heterogeneous structure of the reactor core. ”

The project implementation period is 2 years. In 2019 the Foundation provides funding for implementation of the project in the amount of 1,500,000 rubles.
